The Swinney Conservatory of Music is proud to offer many performance opportunities. Students of any major are encouraged to participate. Scholarships are available, and there are chances to perform with various chamber groups or as soloists in recitals held throughout the year.
Vocal Music Program
Chorale: Chorale is an auditioned chamber choir whose members are selected from CMU musicians of any major. The group performs both on and off campus in a variety of styles. Each fall, the Chorale embarks on a six-day performance tour of Missouri high schools and United Methodist Churches.

Conservatory Singers: Conservatory Singers is a mixed-voice ensemble of 40-60 singers, open to CMU students of any major. Conservatory Singers performs a variety of choral literature from the Renaissance to the present day. The ensemble performs in concerts, worship services at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus, and at churches in Fayette and surrounding communities.
Opera Workshop: CMU Opera Workshop presents programs of opera, operetta and musical theater, one act operas, and full operas, including a summer production.
Instrumental Music Program
Brass Quintet: Maintaining the standard instrumentation of two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba, the quintets perform in student recitals, church services, featured concerts, and other special events.
Concert Band: Concert Band is an auditioned ensemble that performs in various venues, both on and off campus. Performance repertoire includes traditional music and the most recent wind literature. Each spring, the Concert Band embarks on a six-day performance tour of Missouri high schools and United Methodist Churches.

Jazz Band: The CMU Jazz Band is an auditioned jazz ensemble of approximately 16 members. Students perform music from the standard jazz band repertoire as well as contemporary pieces written for jazz ensemble.
Marching Band: The Sound of Central Marching Eagle Band performs at home football games and presents an exhibition at the annual Band Day marching festival.
Trumpet Ensemble: The ensemble is a select group of 6-10 members committed to rehearsing and performing during the entire academic year.
University Band: The CMU University Band is composed of Concert Band members, plus others who wish to perform. This band performs concerts on campus during the spring semester.
Woodwind Ensemble: CMU Woodwind Ensembles are offered each semester. Members collaboratively share musical experiences in both solo and ensemble settings, and meet the challenge of preparing music from the Renaissance to Jazz.
Color Guard: The CMU Color Guard performs with The Sound of Central Marching Eagle Band at every home football game and during the annual CMU Band Day. Membership to the Color Guard is by audition.
Worship Bands: The CMU Worship Bands are comprised of various instrumentation and experience levels, ranging from small acoustic groups, to larger bands with electric instrumentation, and even added horn sections.
