Cybersecurity Degree Program

The Cybersecurity major will allow program graduates to move into a high demand information security career field focusing on protecting credit card, intellectual property, public utilities, personally identifiable information, and other information stored on computing devices. This program blends with the current Criminal Justice program and the National Security Agency/Department of Homeland Security, Center for Academic Excellence, Cyber Defense track, requirements.

About This Program

Cybersecurity is the study of information security as applied to computing devices such as computers and smartphones, as well as computer networks such as private and public networks. Cybersecurity professionals provide customers, clients, and employers with the ability to secure their most precious asset, their data, from compromise. All organizations who have data need trained cybersecurity experts with superior technical skills to avoid data breaches.

As a CMU Cybersecurity major, you will have opportunities to:

  • analyze information security risks and apply various security tools.
  • apply both administrative and technical skills to the information security industry.
  • to develop the necessary skills and abilities for performing technical analyses of computer incidents and intrusions to determine source, infiltration path, mechanism, system modifications and effects, damages, exfiltration path, data infiltrated, and residual effects.
