WoodwardThe Central Methodist University Eagles have a knack for success in the classroom, and on the field and court, so it is no surprise that the University’s new Sports Information Director is a winner.

Shelby Woodward joined the CMU team on August 29, and her skills in athletics are diverse.

Woodward, who lives in Marshall, Mo., most recently worked at Missouri Valley College as Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach and Assistant Sports Information Director. Prior to that, she spent four years at Wentworth Military Academy & College, where she served as Head Women's Volleyball Coach and Director of Sports Information & Events.

“I’m happy to join the Central family and be a part of the winning tradition here,” Woodward said. “The energy around the campus is infectious, and you can clearly see the University’s commitment to academic success and a winning culture in athletics.”

As a communicator, Woodward has written game reports and done feature stories on athletes and teams from a variety of sports, as well as handled their statistics. She has worked with area media, and managed websites and multiple social media accounts, and promoted numerous athletic events. She also has experience in athletic corporate sponsorships.

“The coaches and I are looking forward to Shelby putting her strong skillset to use here at Central,” said Athletics Director Brian Spielbauer.  “She is a welcomed addition to the team.”

Woodward has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Missouri in Sport Management. She is engaged to be married to Andre Scott in late September.
