CMU Awards Gulstad Transfer Scholarships

Welcoming Three North Central Missouri College Students To Central Methodist

T. Berry Smith Hall and the Inman Student CenterCentral Methodist University has recognized three more students as recipients of the Gulstad Transfer Scholarship.

Named after longtime CMU Provost Dr. Rita Gulstad, the scholarship is specifically designed for community college students who want to complete a four-year degree.

It became available in January 2018, and is one of the largest private institution-provided scholarships for community college transfer students – delivering qualified colleges with $5,000 to award in either single or multiple annual scholarships.

Three students from North Central Missouri College in Trenton have been selected as recipients. The $5,000 award will be divided equally between Susan Ellis, Syntitha Morehead, and Angela Trask.

Ellis is from Trenton and has plans to major in either child development or early childhood education at Central Methodist in the fall of 2019.

Morehead is a Milan native and will be a transferring to Central Methodist in the spring of 2019. She intends to major in early childhood education.

With plans to major in child development, Trask will begin classes at CMU in the fall of 2019. She is from Trenton.

“The Gulstad Transfer Scholarship is named to honor an outstanding CMU educator that has done so much to provide degree completion opportunities for community college students,” said CMU President Roger Drake. “It provides a pathway to a great education and a life well-lived for students who have earned an associate degree at a partner institution.”
