The Central Methodist Presidential Search Committee met this past week at a neutral site to interview a number of very talented semi-finalists for the CMU's presidency. The committee was pleased with the enthusiasm, experience and leadership qualities found in the individuals interviewed. We are now in the process of determining the two or three finalists we will invite to campus to participate in extensive on-campus interviews with a wide range of CMU's constituencies.
Once again, we appreciate your continued interest and support in this important process and look forward to its successful culmination later this winter.

December 3, 2012
The search for the next president of Central Methodist University is progressing on schedule. The search committee most recently met on December 1 and selected 13 candidates whose background and experience ¬seem especially consistent with the presidential qualities and qualifications established for the search. At this time, references for these candidates are being checked by committee members and our consultant. The committee will meet again on December 15 to discuss the results of our reference calls and to select a smaller number of candidates who will be invited to confidential preliminary interviews with the search committee. On completion of that round of interviews, the committee will select approximately two to three finalist candidates to participate in more extensive on-campus interviews with a broad range of CMU constituents. These interviews will occur in late January and/or early February.
We are extremely pleased with the quality of the candidate pool and have every reason to believe our search will come to a successful conclusion by the end of February. If you have any questions, please direct them to me at cmupres@agbsearch.com or to Dr. Saundra Tracy, our consultant, at 812-272-3149 or sjt@agbsearch.com.
Thank you for your interest and support. I will communicate again soon after our December 15 meeting.

I am writing to update you on the progress of the presidential search. At our recent meeting, we adopted a screening process we will use in assessing applicants for the presidency that ensures all candidates are evaluated by a common standard. Between now and our next meeting on December 1, members of the committee will review applicant files. At the December 1 meeting, we will reduce the pool to a smaller group in the range of 12–15 candidates whose references will be checked.
We will continue to receive applications until November 19. As we have previously stated, we encourage you to consider persons who might provide strong and effective leadership for Central Methodist. A number of you have already made suggestions, but we encourage others to be similarly involved. As names come to mind, please forward them to me or our search consultants so we might contact them. You will find the search profile and the qualities we seek in our next president on the CMU website.
We are pleased with the quality of candidates who have chosen to engage in our search thus far and are increasingly confident we will be successful when the process is completed, currently scheduled for late February. On-campus interviews will be scheduled during that month.
The committee will continue to stay in touch with you throughout the process, and we welcome your comments and questions at any time. You may write to me in care of cmupres@agbsearch.com, or you may contact either of our consultants, Dr. Saundra J. Tracy (812-272-3149, e-mail: sjt@agbsearch.com) or Dr. Bruce T. Alton (202-262-8250, e-mail: bta@agbsearch.com). We will treat any information you provide as confidential.
Thank you very much for your continuing interest and support. I will be in contact with you again immediately following our next meeting.
