Deadline Postponed for CMU Vocal Invitational

School closings due to weather lead to extension

The deadline to register for Central Methodist University's Invitational Vocal Solo and Ensemble Workshop, to be held on Thursday, March 6, has been extended.

The original registration date of February 10 has been extended to Monday, Feb. 17, since so many schools have been closed recently due to inclement weather.

Swinney Conservatory of Music at CMU hosts the invitational annually to help prepare high school vocal students for upcoming contests and auditions. In an educationally enriching and non-competitive atmosphere, students will be instructed by CMU's voice faculty in the areas of vocal solo and ensemble preparation and critique, voice classes, and group choral ensemble singing with work on diction and interpretation.

Each school that attends can register up to five soloists and/or ensembles. It is recommended that schools bring their own accompanists to play for their students.

Registration forms can be found at www.centralmethodist.edu under Fine Arts. Click on Invitational Vocal Solo and Ensemble Workshop. Or contact Ruth Spayde at rspayde@centralmethodist.edu to register.

Check-in will be in the Kountz Recital Hall from 8:30-9 a.m. on March 6, and the day will conclude at 3:30 p.m. The workshop will be segmented into blocks of sessions, a concert by CMU vocalists, and lunch on your own.
