Central Methodist University Trumpet Ensemble to Perform
Seven students to perform at International Trumpet Guild Conference
Members of the Central Methodist University Trumpet Ensemble have been selected to perform at the 39th Annual International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Conference May 20-24 at Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, Pa.
Students will perform in Trumpet Preludes, a series of short concerts lasting six to eight minutes, in which ensembles perform before a headliner artist, ensemble or clinic session. The CMU Trumpet Ensemble will perform two or three pieces during the conference.
CMU's Trumpet Ensemble is directed by Dr. John Perkins, CMU associate professor of music.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend sessions, clinics and concerts. Some featured artists, presenters and ensembles this year include the Canadian Brass, the New York Trumpet Ensemble, the Atlantic Brass Band, the Chestnut Brass Company and the U. S. Army Band Brass Ensemble.
Members of the CMU Trumpet Ensemble include Lakyn Baker, senior music education major from Fayette; Wayne Brown, senior music education major from O'Fallon; Zack Fincher, senior music education major from Lebanon; Katelyn Hanvey, freshman music education major from Centralia; Lucas Johnson, junior music education major from Pacific; Ann Marie Pelley, senior music education major from St. Peters; and Rachel Richard, senior music education major from Eldon.
The CMU Trumpet Ensemble will begin fundraising soon to support their attendance at the conference.
