Triple Concert at CMU on April 15

Swinney Sisters, Church Street Boys, Trumpet Ensemble

Three ensembles will present a joint concert at Central Methodist University on Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on CMU's Fayette campus. The talented groups of The Swinney Singers, a new female jazz group, The Church Street Boys, and the Trumpet Ensemble will all perform.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Church Street Boys will be performing their part of this program again on April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the New Franklin United Methodist Church. The public is also invited to this performance at no cost.

The Swinney Sisters, directed by Dr. Claude Westfall, assistant professor of music and conductor of the Chorale, will sing "I Believe," "Candy," "The Poet Sings," "In This Very Room," "Jordan's Angels," "For Good" (from Wicked), and "Royals." They will be accompanied on piano by Kelley Head, adjunct professor of music.

The Church Street Boys are directed by Dr. Ron Atteberry, assistant professor of music and conductor of the Conservatory Singers. Accompanied by pianist Levi Gerke (sophomore, Pilot Grove), the group will perform "Mighty Men of Song," "Live-a-Humble," "Darkness on the Delta," "What Shall We do with the Drunken Sailor," "Red River Valley," "In Taberna quando Sumus" (from Carmina Burana), and "The Awakening."

The Trumpet Ensemble is conducted by Dr. John Perkins, CMU associate professor of music. The ensemble will be playing "Canzon septimi toni a 8 No. 1" by Gabrieli; "Judas Maccabeaus" by Handel; "If Thou Be Near" by Bach; "Octet for Trumpets" by Uber; "Intrada Dramatica" by Price; "Slancio!" by Ford; and "Recreational Jazz Quartet No. 5" and "Recreational Jazz Quartet No. 12," both by Olcott.

Members of the Swinney Sisters include Britney Kelcher (junior, St. Charles), Angela Biondo (junior, St. Charles), Tanjie Hoover (senior, New Franklin), Jennifer Hopkins (junior, Monett) and Susan Bishop (freshman, Fayette).

The Church Street Boys are comprised of: tenor I—Zack Fincher (junior, Lebanon), Brian Thode (senior, Crystal City), Brad Smith (senior, Mexico), Hershell Williams III (junior, Buffalo); tenor II—Micah Jeffries (junior, Rock Port), Austin Long (senior, Monroe City), Thomas Waggoner (freshman, Fayette), Alex Young (freshman, Lebanon); baritone—Landon Ball (freshman, Fayette), Dane Johnson (senior, Columbia), Luke McKinney (senior, Fayette), Jesse Odom (junior, St. Louis), Taylor Rouse (sophomore, Columbia), Aiden Smith (sophomore, Waynesville); and bass—Josh Goggin (sophomore, St. Louis), Daniel Long (senior, Odessa), Matt Bricker (sophomore, Monett), Archer Tribett (junior, Little Rock, Ark.).

Playing in the Trumpet Ensemble are Rachel Richard (senior, Eldon), Ann Marie Pelley (junior, St. Peters), Lucas Johnson (sophomore, Pacific), Katelyn Hanvey (freshman, Centralia), Zack Fincher, Wayne Brown (sophomore, O'Fallon), and Lakyn Baker (senior, Fayette).

Donations will be collected to support the Trumpet Ensemble's upcoming trip to the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Pennsylvania in May where they have been invited to perform.
