CMU's Mark Stone Earns Campus Event Planner Award

Director of student activities' third award

Mark Stone, director of student activities at Central Methodist University in Fayette, has been awarded the Campus Event Planner of the Year award for the third time. The award is sponsored by Power Performers Talent Agency and is based on more than 4,200 universities nationwide.

Stone has been recognized for his "tireless efforts and excellence in student activities programming and campus event planning," specifically for hosting the mentalist Robert Channing. The agency bases the selection for the award on organization of the event, audience, atmosphere, customer service with performer and agent, treatment, friendly welcoming, technical--music, stage, lighting, sound, and similar criteria.

Originally from Cape Girardeau, Mo., Stone has been an employee at Central since 2007 and is also currently the residence hall director for McMurry Hall. Prior to employment with Central, he received his Bachelor of Science in communication with a business minor in 2004, as well as his Master in Education in 2005, both from Central Methodist University.
