CMU Jazz Band Wraps Up the Year

Final concert on April 30

The last chance to hear the dynamic CMU Jazz Band this spring is coming up Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Classic Hall Band Room on the Central Methodist University Fayette campus.

Directed by Dr. Ron Shroyer, CMU adjunct professor of music and dean emeritus of Swinney Conservatory of Music, and Jo Ellen Shroyer, CMU adjunct professor of music, the Jazz Band has had countless fans through the decades because they are outstanding musicians who are fun to watch. Almost all of the songs also contain student solos.

The event is free to all and everyone is welcome.

A variety of jazz styles will be profiled through songs like "I Can't Stop Lovin' You," "Makin' Whoopee," "St. Louis Blues," "Big Swing Face," "'S Wonderful," "Georgia on my Mind," and "Jumpin' at the Woodside."

CMU student soloists during the concert will include Ann Marie Pelley (sophomore, St. Peters), Bobby Mobley (freshman, Monett), Wayne Brown (freshman, O'Fallon), Michael Mountain (junior, Lampe), Josh Hall (senior, Chapel Hill, Tenn.), Derek Volkman (junior, Franklin), Donald Heaton (senior, Chillicothe), Brad Smith (sophomore, Mexico), Joslyn West (senior, Macon), and Lakyn Baker (junior, Fayette).
