Events Honor Retiring President Marianne Inman

Big weekend at CMU May 3-5

The end of an academic year on a college campus is always busy and special, but things at Central Methodist University will be even busier and more special as CMU honors its retiring President, Marianne E. Inman, Friday through Sunday May 3-5.

Inman will retire in a few weeks, concluding a sterling 18-year career at Central. A series of special events honoring her are scheduled, including:

Friday, May 3

A community celebration beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Puckett Fieldhouse on the CMU campus. Everyone is welcome, and dinner will be provided with a program to follow; reservations are requested by the end of the business day Tuesday, April 30 by contacting Heather Carlton at CMU, 660-248-6234 or

Saturday, May 4

An art dedication open to all will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Classic Hall on the CMU campus.

The 67th annual Alumni Awards Celebration begins at 6 p.m. in the CMU Student and Community Center; President Inman and her husband David will be recognized that night. Reservations are $25 and can be made by contacting Heather Carlton.

Sunday, May 5

Worship services will be held at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus at 10:30 a.m. CMU choral students will perform that morning.

The CMU Swinney Conservatory will dedicate a choir concert to President Inman, beginning at 4 p.m. in the Linn United Methodist Church.
