CMU Joins Global #GivingTuesday Movement

Local donor pledges $25,000 matching gift

#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving on Tuesday, Nov. 29 will be celebrated for a second year by Central Methodist University (CMU).

Just like last year, a local donor has agreed gift up to $25,000 to match all gifts made to CMU on #GivingTuesday. Alumni, friends, faculty and staff joined together to raise $43,220 from 96 donors, earning the $25,000 match to the Central Annual Scholarship Fund.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick-off the holiday giving season. The goal is to inspire people to improve their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the causes they support.

The event harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
