Annual CMU Gems of Vocal Literature Recital

Solos and ensembles present on October 20

Some of the finest student voices from Central Methodist University's Swinney Conservatory of Music will perform during the annual Gems of Vocal Literature Recital on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall on the Fayette Campus.

From the studio of Associate Professor Dr. Susan Quigley-Duggan will come singers Angela Biondo (junior, St. Charles), Shawna Crisler (junior, St. Clair), Dan Jones (senior, Saint Ann), Levi Gerke (junior, Pilot Grove), Anna Kay (sophomore, Boonville), Britney Kelcher (junior, St. Charles), Brittany Losh (senior, Pacific), Jamie Rector (freshman, Overland Park, Kan.), and Aubrey Taylor (senior, Columbia).

Vocal students from Assistant Professor Dr. Ron Atteberry's studio who will perform are Cal Bergthold (senior, Paris), Zack Fincher (junior, Lebanon), Tanjie Hoover (senior, New Franklin), Austin Long (junior, Monroe City), Aiden Smith (freshman, Waynesville), and Hershel Williams III (junior, Lebanon).

The students will be accompanied by Atteberry; Kelley Head, CMU adjunct professor of music; and Mary Jane Nance, staff accompanist.

Music presented will be by composers Donizetti, Duparc, Falconiere, Hahn, Handel, Mozart, Purcell, Rossini, Schubert, C. Schumann, R. Schumann, and Tchaikovsky. In addition to solos, ensembles will sing pieces from Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute, both by Mozart; and from Don Pasquale by Donizetti.

The recital is free and open to the public.
