CMU Sunday Is November 3
15 churches to host University ambassadors
Volunteers from Central Methodist University will be sharing news about the university out to 15 churches across Missouri on Sunday, Nov. 3 for the "CMU Sunday" program.
This is the second year that CMU faculty, staff, administration and trustees will represent CMU in local churches across Missouri. The addition of these 15 churches will bring the total churches visited in the past two years to 55 different churches.
CMU Sunday volunteers bring greetings on behalf of CMU's president, and share exciting news about what's happening at CMU. They offer thanks to the pastors and congregations for their support of CMU, including their prayers, student referrals and financial gifts, as well as extend an open invitation to visit CMU's Fayette campus and our satellite campuses across the State of Missouri.
"It is rare that a UMC pastor tells me 'no,'" said Michael Pope, UMC liaison for CMU. "Most pastors and churches are extremely open and willing to schedule a CMU Sunday when it is appropriate and convenient for them," he added.
Participating churches this year include 13 United Methodist Churches (UMC) and two Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ), Pope said. They include (name of CMU representative in parenthesis):
Camdenton UMC, Camdenton (Tiger Gordon)
Carl Junction UMC, Carl Junction (Roger Drake)
First Christian Church, Centralia (Pam Gordy)
First Christian Church, Fayette (Susan Quigley Duggan)
Linn Memorial UMC, Fayette (Lealure Tindall)
Mt. Zion UMC, Deepwater (Sandra Gilkey)
Rich Hill UMC, Rich Hill (Michael Pope)
Rock Port UMC, Rock Port (John and Joy Flanders)
Salem-in-Ladue UMC, St. Louis (Jim Marchbank)
Schweitzer UMC, Springfield (Paul King)

St. Andrew UMC, Florissant (Braxton Rethwisch)
St. Paul UMC, Fayette (Lealure Tindall)
Warsaw UMC, Warsaw (Julia Gebhardt Costigan)

Six other churches asked for a CMU representative to visit at another time due to schedule conflicts on Nov. 3. Central Methodist's next CMU Sunday will take place in February, Pope added.
