ENACTUS Build-A-Business Event Coming Soon

Aims to help Howard County Small Businesses

February 7-8 marks the return of the annual Build-A-Business workshop sponsored by Central Methodist University's ENACTUS organization. The group, formerly known as SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) will be working with current and/or hopeful new businesses in Howard County.

The Friday evening and Saturday day workshop is open to interested entrepreneurs at no cost. Friday meeting times are 6-8 p.m.; Saturday times are 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

People wishing to start, revise, or expand a small business in the county should register online at www.centralmethodist.edu/buildabusiness or call 660-348-6250. Pre-registration is required by Monday, Feb. 3. Attendance is limited to the first 20 participants to register.

ENACTUS CMU president, senior Sophie Wilensky, says the goal of the workshop is to "help entrepreneurs to develop precise and effective business plans that will equip them with skills they need to succeed."

Team members, business professionals, and participants will utilize a software program designed to organize their ideas and develop business plans. At the end of the workshop, participants will present their plans to a panel of business professionals who will identify the best plan.

The third year of the Build-A-Business project is sponsored by a Wal-Mart Women's Economic Empowerment grant. The workshop, however, is not limited to women participants.
