American Music Recital on April 10
CMU’s music organizations’ annual recital
Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia will present their annual American Music Recital on Thursday, April 10, at 7:30 in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Central Methodist University in Fayette.
The joint recital is free and open to the public.
For one of the most fun recitals during the school year, the men and women of the music fraternities present solos and groups, large and small. Scheduled on this spring's program are small vocal ensembles, small instrumental ensembles, vocal solos, a saxophone solo, a timpani solo, and a piano four-hand piece.
The one element that ties all the selections together is the fact that all are either composed or arranged by Americans, the only such presentation on campus.
Following the recital, the ladies of Sigma Alpha Iota will host an autograph auction to benefit chapter projects.
Beta Mu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the men's national professional music fraternity, was established on the Central College campus in 1930 and has been active continually since then.
Theta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was established at Central Methodist College in 1997. It is an international fraternity for women in music and fills the void left by the loss of Tau chapter of Phi Beta Fraternity for the Creative and Performing Arts.
This concert will be live-streamed. Watch online
