This position, located in St. Louis, MO, is responsible for performing academic advisement for new and continuing students and helping them create a plan for earning their degree. The Academic Advisor will serve as the liaison between the University and the student to explain policies and procedures and help students navigate through the degree completion process.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to individual and group advising and degree planning with students, responding to emails and phone calls from student in a timely fashion, monitoring student attendance in classes and following up with those who are absent, collecting and following up on student paperwork, managing the orientation process for new students, and creating a monthly student newsletter.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, student development, business, education or related field required; master's degree preferred. Two years of experience in academic advising, student services, social services, training and development or related positions required. The ability to communicate effectively, prioritize work flow, work well with minimum supervision and accept responsibility for total task completion is required. Proven experience in an education environment working with academic programs, policies and procedures is a plus. Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact and communicate effectively with students and adult program personnel. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required. Experience with Jenzabar/CARS is a plus.

Other Information and Attributes:

Must be able to work a varied schedule to accommodate the needs of the adult students, including evenings. Travel to instructional sites throughout the St. Louis area is required with reimbursement for mileage.
