Winter Choir Concert at CMU

Central Methodist University's Conservatory Singers and Chorale will present a joint concert on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. in Linn Memorial Church on the campus of CMU in Fayette.

The concert is free and open to all.

The Conservatory Singers under the direction of Ron Atteberry, assistant professor of music, will perform beloved Christmas carols including "Silent Night," "Carol of the Bells," "Personent Hodie," and a collection of favorites arranged by Dr. Ron Shroyer, dean emeritus of the Swinney Conservatory of music, called "Celebration of Christmas."

The Chorale, having recently returned from its annual tour, will perform music from their professional repertoire as well as the Christmas music of "Christmas Cantata," "O Magnum Mysterium," "Still, Still, Still," "Silent Night," and "Glory Hallelujah to the Newborn King." The Chorale is directed by Dr. Claude Westfall, director of choral activities.

Soloists and accompanists include senior Donald Heaton on oboe; junior Rebecca Shroyer on clarinet; soprano Brittany Losh, a junior; freshman Levi Gerke on piano; staff accompanist Ruth Spayde on organ and piano; Kelley Head, adjunct professor of music, on piano; and a trumpet quartet and brass quintet.
