CMU Theatre Presents I'm Not Rappaport |
|
The next production for The Little Theatre on the Fayette Campus of Central Methodist University is Herb Gardner's I'm Not Rappaport. The comedy is scheduled for Thursday-- Saturday, Nov. 29, 30, and Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m.
I'm Not Rappaport takes place in Central Park, N.Y.C., where two elderly gentlemen spend their days sitting on a park bench. Together they fight against obstacles brought on by old-age while struggling to keep their independence.
Nat is a cantankerous Communist whose daughter is urging him into the old folk's home. Midge, an apartment superintendent, spends his days in the park hiding in the past and from his disgruntled tenants.
The play is directed by Dr. Mark Kelty, CMU associate professor of theatre arts. Reuniting in the two main roles are Darrell Bailey as Midge, and alumnus Josh Kirby as Nat. Darrell and Josh performed this show together in the summer of 2010 to raise money for the late Dean Nancy Thompson Jones.
Proceeds from this presentation of I'm Not
Rappaort will support the Central Methodist student ministry's spring
mission trip. This year the campus ministry group, led by CMU Chaplain Lucas
Endicott, is going to El Paso, Texas, to help at the Lydia Patterson Methodist prep
school.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for CMU faculty and staff, and $2 for students. Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling the box office at 660-248-6281.
