CMU's Swinney Conservatory Presents Chamber Music Recital

Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University will present a Chamber Music Recital on Friday, Nov 2, at 7:30pm in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall on the Fayette campus.

The recital is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Nine different ensemble groups will perform both vocal and instrumental music. The compositions cover a wide range of groups from a guitar duet to a vocal octet.

The ensemble groups include:

Oboe duet featuring Hannah Wade (junior, New Bloomfield) and Alexis Maschmeier (sophomore, New Bern, N.C.);

Flute duet featuring Mary Rose Lehman (junior, Robertsville) and Chelsea Wallace (junior, Rogersville);

Vocal/flute duet featuring Hannah Utlaut (senior, Fayette), and Donald Heaton (senior, Fayette);

Guitar duet featuring Ben Gladden (junior, Salisbury) and Derek Volkmann (junior, Franklin);

Vocal duet featuring Rebecca Shroyer (junior, Boonville) and Levi Gerke (freshman, Pilot Grove);

Vocal duet featuring Calley Rogers (senior, Lebanon) and Michael O?Neill (senior, Pleasant Hill);

Vocal octet featuring Rogers and Brittany Losh (junior, Pacific) as sopranos, Aubrey Taylor (junior, Columbia) and Jamie Rector (freshman, Jefferson City) as altos, Alex Kirby (junior, Columbia) and Gerke as tenors, and Dane Johnson (sophomore, Columbia) and Joe Jeffries (sophomore, Fayette) as baritones;

Trumpet ensemble featuring Lakyn Baker (junior, Fayette), Wayne Brown (freshman, O?Fallon), Lucas Johnson (freshman, Pacific), Ann Marie Pelley (sophomore, St. Peters), Rachel Richard (junior, Eldon), and Joslyn West (senior, Macon); and

Woodwind choir featuring Wallace, Lehman, and Pam Crawford (sophomore, Columbia) on flute; Wade and Maschmeier on oboe; Dylan Hawkins (freshman, St. Clair) on bassoon; Shroyer, Kaitlin Romine (sophomore, Palmyra), Sara Glynn (senior, Dixon), and Gerke on clarinet; Heaton on bass clarinet; Jennifer Hopkins (sophomore, Monett) on contra bass clarinet; Brad Smith (sophomore, Mexico) on soprano saxophone; John Critchlow (senior, St. Charles), Jane Gonzalez-Meyer (senior, Mexico), and Chelsea Young (freshman, Bunceton) on alto saxophone; Emily Schultz (sophomore, Bloomington, Ill.) on tenor saxophone; and Michael Utlaut (senior, Fayette) on baritone saxophone.

The vocal performers are students of Dr. Susan Quigley-Duggan, associate professor of music. Adjunct professors of music, Don Ross and Ryan McLouth, guide the oboe duet and guitar duet, respectively. Performers in the trumpet ensemble are students of Dr. John Perkins, associate professor of music; and those in the woodwind choir are under the tutelage of Jo Ellen Shroyer, adjunct professor of music. The students in the flute duet are taught and accompanied by Dr. Dori Waggoner, dean of the Swinney Conservatory of Music and assistant professor of music.

Other accompanists for the groups include Kelley Head, adjunct professor of music, and Ruth Spayde, staff accompanist, both on piano.
