'CMU Sunday' Coming to Missouri |

Volunteers from Central Methodist University will be visiting United Methodist congregations across mid-Missouri, north central Missouri, and in eastern Missouri on Sunday, Oct. 28 for the university's first "CMU Sunday" program.
"The purpose of this special event is to foster greater awareness of Central Methodist University and to give congregations an opportunity to connect with a member of the CMU community," noted Michael Pope, CMU United Methodist Church liaison.
On that day, faculty, staff and administration from the university will attend services at 25 UMCs across the state. These volunteers will bring greetings and words of thanks on behalf of CMU's president, Marianne Inman, invite congregations to visit CMU, provide information regarding CMU's academic and extracurricular programs as well as respond to other questions about the University, including addressing admissions requirements for prospective students.
"The ultimate goal of CMU Sunday is to reinforce the relationship that already exists between CMU and the UMC, and to enhance our partnership in Christian higher education and ministry," Pope said.
Several other churches already had events planned for that day and have asked CMU representatives to return on another Sunday, Pope noted. He welcomes additional requests from interested churches; they can reach him at 660-248-6390 or by e-mail at mpope@centralmethodist.edu.
