Central Methodist University is seeking a Director of Professional Education beginning Fall 2013.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve as chair of the education division on the Fayette campus
    a.   Plan schedules for the Fayette campus
    b.   Evaluate faculty on the Fayette campus
    c.   Chair Educator Preparation Committee; report at every faculty meeting on education issues
    d.   Collaborate with other divisions on campus to assure compliance with DESE standards
    e.   Advise education majors, especially transfer students
    f.    Supervise academic progress of education and pre-education majors
    g.   Hire and evaluate adjuncts for Fayette location
    h.   Oversee education expenditures
    i.    Oversee and monitor education faculty load

2. Serve as director of statewide education programs
    a.   Oversee state and federal reporting for all campuses
    b.   Work with education site coordinators to assure consistent policies and offerings at all locations
    c.   Keep abreast of DESE changes and plan transitions for CMU to meet new requirements
    d.   Manage assessment of education programs
    e.   Serve as certification officer, manage DESE worklog
    f.    Represent CMU education division at local, state, and national meetings


Education and Experience Qualifications: 

  • Terminal Degree    
  • Administrative experience with a record of progressive and visionary leadership
  • Previous experience as a faculty member at a college or university   
  • Experience with oversight, assessment, and compliance with state standards and accreditation   
  • PreK-12 teaching experience   
  • The ability to foster cooperation and collaboration among faculty representing diverse disciplines   
  • Broker relationships between the PreK-12 schools and the university   
  • Experience with distance education

Physical Requirements:

Extended periods of sitting


Other Skills and Abilities:

  Proficient with Microsoft Office products
