Swinney Conservatory Holds Vocal Workshop |

The Swinney Conservatory of Music held a Vocal Workshop for high school students on March 7. The workshop was sponsored by the Swinney Conservatory and the Admission Department at Central Methodist University.
Students from four area high schools attended the day-long workshop and were instructed on vocal technique and diction in morning and afternoon sessions.
The ensembles and solos were coached by the voice and choral faculty, which includes Dr. Susan Quigley-Duggan, associate professor of voice and opera; Ron Atteberry, assistant professor of voice and director of the Conservatory Singers; Tom Arnold, adjunct professor of music; and Dr. Claude Westfall, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities.
Kelley Head, adjunct professor of music accompanied many of the students. Students accompanied by their choral directors brought solos and ensembles they are preparing for upcoming concerts.
At midday, voice students from CMU's Swinney Conservatory presented a mini-voice recital for the students. Performing were Levi Gerke (sophomore from Pilot Grove), Jamie Rector (freshman from Jefferson City), Anna Kay (freshman from Boonville), Dane Johnson (sophomore from Columbia), Aubrey Taylor (junior from Columbia), and Austin Long (sophomore from Monroe City). They were accompanied by Dr. Jorge Muniz, adjunct professor of music.

from Fulton: Maria Butler, Sarah Williams, Caroline McEuer, Nate Kucena, Jolaina Anderson, and teacher Ryan Hampton;
from Slater: Dallas Falls, Destiny MacFarlane, Kathryn Zimmer, Kaylee McEuchen, Kathy Shaw, and teacher Nancy Thompson;
and from Boonville: Frankie Vollrath, Stella Holland, Austin Andrews, Samantha Abel, Haley Thomas, Forrest Hage, Adam Christal, Brenda Twenter, Cody Painter, Noah Rogers, Ryder Mesik, Marina Heard, Mackenzie Ficken, Michaela Lenz, Allie Carney-Jackson, Kelsie Williams, Bryanna Nivert, Angie Carney-Jackson, Alex Rinehart, Teresa Verling, and teacher Warner Bailey.| Related Articles |
