New Identity for CMU Athletics |

Central Methodist
University has introduced Phase I of a two-part new brand and identity
system that sets the visual direction for Eagle Athletics for years to come and
modernizes one of the most recognizable brands in all of NAIA intercollegiate
athletics.
In addition to the traditional Eagle head and swoosh logos, Central Methodist
introduces a new "C" logo and tagline, "Take Flight," that
will be utilized by all 15 of the university's intercollegiate sports teams.
Central Methodist officials worked on a nearly seven-month evolution program to refine and update the celebrated marks of the university, honoring the rich tradition of academics and athletics. With the goal of developing an innovative and contemporary athletic brand identity, CMU worked with student-athletes, coaches, administrators and alumni to compile input on the department's brand attributes.
"Central Methodist Athletics is extremely pleased to have a unique athletic 'C' logo and tagline for the department," Vice President and Athletic Director Ken Oliver said. "We believe we have selected a 'C' and tagline that will help us to continue to brand our athletic department. The ultimate goal for the rebrand is to attract high-caliber student-athletes to a contemporary brand, while respecting our heritage."
The new Eagle
"C" logo features clean, contemporary lines and a modern, confident
and timeless graphic structure. The official colors for Central Methodist
Athletics, green and black, remain in the design which also includes an Eagle
beak and eye representing strength, integrity and inspiration.
The new tagline, "Take Flight," will be used as the main identifying
device for Central Methodist Athletics. The new mark will be available on
official Central Methodist apparel and will connect Eagle fans in social media
via Twitter at #takeflight. The use of the CMU slogan will remain part of the
overall university brand system and will remain available in marketing and
retail.
Through these brand identity updates, Central Methodist creates separation and
distinction in the marketplace while respecting the past and representing the
future.
