Assistant Professor & Program Site Coordinator-Sedalia

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The MSCC Assistant Professor is a full-time, nine-month, tenure track Counselor Educator position with teaching and administration as primary responsibilities.  The opportunity for summer employment in teaching and administration is also available.  The MSCC Assistant Professor will work under the direction of the MSCC Program Director, the CMU Director of Graduate Studies and the Provost.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching: Teach, at a minimum, four graduate level clinical counseling courses.  If in the future, one of the primary additional duties (Program Coordinator/Advisor or CCC Director & Field Experience Coordinator) is added to a different position, the minimum teaching load will increase to six graduate level clinical counseling courses per academic year.   A summer contract will be available for teaching an additional two courses.  Develop and maintain competence with distance learning technology.

Program Administration and Development: The Program Coordinator is responsible to maintain clinical counseling program requirements in accordance with the Missouri state statutes and regulations for Licensed Professional Counselor preparation and regulations of Central Methodist University.  This will include hiring, supervision, and evaluation of adjunct instructor, oversight of clinical placements, maintaining student and cohort records, developing and scheduling site curriculum, and evaluating the program.

Student Advisement, Recruitment, Selection and Evaluation: Advise all MSCC students at site, actively recruit qualified students and facilitate their entry into the program, coordinate new student orientation, and serve on faculty committees for admissions and remediation to assess student progress throughout the program.

Clinical Counseling Center (CCC) Director & Field Experience Coordinator:  The MSCC Assistant Professor will also carry the title of CCC Director & Field Experience Coordinator for the Sedalia site, which will be open for a minimum of 15 hours a week.  The Field Experience Coordinator will develop and continuously expand and improve practicum and internship placements for MSCC candidates.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Minimum requirements include a Doctorate or ABD in Counseling Education or a related area (such as Counseling or Clinical Psychology).  A Doctorate or ABD from a CACREP-accredited Counseling Education program is preferred.  Initial appointment in a tenure track position requires a Doctoral degree.  Individuals who are ABD will be eligible to apply for tenure track if they complete their doctoral degree within two years of appointment to this position.

Experience: A license (or eligibility) to practice independently as a mental health provider is required.  Eligibility as a Licensed Professional Counselor is preferred, as well as experience in teaching, counseling, and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and talk and hear.  Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision.  Must lift, carry, and move a minimum of 10 pounds on an occasional basis.

Must have the ability to operate a personal computer and keyboard, printers, telephone, facsimile, and other office equipment.   In addition, must be able to utilize social media synchronous platforms, such as VSee or Skype.  The abilities to prioritize tasks effectively, solve problems creatively and constructively, cope with a changing work environment, and be self-motivated are extremely important.
