what is ferpa?

FERPA is a commonly used term for the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974.

FERPA requires that the University obtain - from every enrolled student - a signed Permission to Release Education Information form. Each student may waive or not waive his or her rights of educational privacy.
