Alpha Psi Omega is the National American Theater Honors Fraternity.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a music fraternity that is open to any male student who has a love of and interest in music. Men may pledge Phi Mu Alpha the first semester of their freshman year upon meeting eligibility requirements. Phi Mu Alpha strives to build a strong brotherhood through music and supports the University and the Conservatory in a variety of ways. CMU’s Sinfonian Chapter Website
Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) is an international fraternity for women in music. The SAI chapter at Central Methodist University is Theta Omicron, one of over 300 collegiate and alumni chapters. To be eligible for membership, a woman must have completed one full semester of college, taken at least one class in music and must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 for the semester prior to her pledging the organization. Sigma Alpha Iota strives to build a strong sisterhood through music and supports the University and the Conservatory in a variety of ways.
The Central Methodist University Percussion Society is a student-run organization open to any enrolled student at CMU (not just percussionists). The Society exists to promote interest and enjoyment in the education and performance of percussion music on the CMU campus, as well as throughout the community.
The purpose of the National Association for Music
Education (NAfME-C)
is to afford students an opportunity for professional
orientation and development while still in school, and to enable
students to gain an understanding of: the basic truths and
principles that underline the role of music in human life; the
philosophy and function of the music education profession; the
professional interests of members involved in the local, state,
division, and national levels; the music industry's role in
supports of music education and; the knowledge and practices of
the professional music educator as facilitated through chapter
activity.
C-MENC meets monthly and focuses on topics of
interest for students planning to teach in public schools.
National Association for Music Education
The Student National Association of Teachers of Singing (SNATS) has fostered the formation of student chapters in order to advance knowledge about the professions of teaching and singing. The Student NATS chapter is an organization of students that can meet, hold events and discussions, participate, practice, and learn more about voice teaching as a profession and singing.
Our CMU mission:
Enhance the camaraderie of our students
by collaborating in order to promote the attendance of live
student and professional performances of the vocal arts on and
off campus.
Enrich the education of our membership by offering master classes, attending vocal conferences and competitions while providing special training in vocal performance and film viewing opportunities.
Provide performance opportunities while fostering leadership skills, and encouraging student autonomy with advisory support from faculty.
