CMU Opera Workshop presents annual scene programs of opera, operetta and musical theater, one act operas and full operas in the Kountz Recital Hall, the Inman Student and Community Center and The Little Theatre. Vocal performance majors, vocal music education majors, instrumental majors and those involved in applied voice lessons are welcome to participate. Guest artists and faculty are also invited to participate when appropriate.
CMU Opera Workshop presents its performances in February and music students and community talent can participate in a full production or showcase as part of The CMU Summer Light Opera available for college credit in June each summer.
Learning to sing and act onstage as a soloist and as part of an ensemble is stressed as well as working with music and movement, gesture, characterization and improved vocalism. This is all part of the opera workshop training and experience.
