Understanding FERPA

As an educational institution that receives federal funding - primarily through student financial aid - Central Methodist University is obligated to protect each student’s personally identifiable information.

Personally identifiable information refers to data or information that includes a name (the name of a student, of a parent, or of other family members) and/or a personal identifier such as a Social Security number or a CMU ID number.

To demonstrate CMU’s compliance with FERPA, the Office of the Vice President and Dean of the University has designed this review for CMU faculty, staff, administrators, and student employees.
