spybot search and destroy

Spybot Search and Destroy is a program that can assist you with spyware issues.  Instructions for installation are below or you may refer to the Spybot Search and Destroy web site.

• Download and install Spybot Search and Destroy

   

  • Click DOWNLOAD NOW

   

  • A dialog box will appear that asks: Do you want to run or save this file? Click SAVE and save to any location on your computer -- just so you know where it is

   

  • A dialog box will appear that says: DOWNLOAD COMPLETE, Click RUN

   

  • Select English for the default language or your language of choice

   

  • The setup wizard will appear and follow the prompts

     

    • On Select Components: remove check in additional languages and skins to change appearance.  This will leave all the boxes unchecked

     

    • Leave a check mark in place and click FINISH to RUN SPYBOT NOW

• UPDATES to Spybot

   

  • Before you begin the spyware scan, you will need to update the spyware

   

  • If a network connection is present, click SEARCH FOR UPDATES

   

  • This will display a list of all available updates.  You should check for updates to your spyware files at least once a month.

   

  • If updates are found, you will need to change the default download location to a USA mirror. (shown below)

   

  • If you check one or more boxes, the click on DOWNLOAD UPDATES button at the top of screen.  This will download updates and return you to the main screen

• RUNNING Spybot

   

  • Click the Search & Destroy button if not in start-up screen

   

  • Click on CHECK FOR PROBLEMS to begin the scan

   

  • A green bar on the bottom will indicate the scan progress.  When finished, Spybot will list any spyware found.  Put a check in any of the checkboxes for each item you want removed

   

  • Click on the FIX SELECTED PROBLEMS at the top of the screen

• A message box appears: You are about to remove the checked entries. Do you want to continue? Click YES

• A confirmation box: states the number of problems fixed. Click OK
   

• IMMUNIZING WITH SPYBOT

   

  • Click IMMUNIZE on left side of screen

   

  • This will automatic run and show a complete window of how many bad products are already blocked.

   

  • Click OK
