virus protectionCentral Methodist University utilizes Symantec Anti-Virus as the University anti-virus software. Symantec Anti-Virus is installed on our University-owned computers and also is utilized to scan all incoming email messages.
That said, all residence hall computers are required to have virus protection. For data protection, scan all unknown files and disks for viruses before using. Update anti-virus definitions and software on a regular basis. If your residence hall computer gets a virus, your internet port may be turned off and you may be assessed a charge.
Install an antivirus software program from a well-known, reputable company, and run it as recommended by the provider. If the program has an automatic virus-scanning feature, keep it turned on. Remember that new viruses can be released every single day. Therefore, if the product has an auto-update feature, you should use it to help protect your computer from the latest viruses.
If you do not have virus protection, we recommend AVAST anti-virus.
