What to bring
The following items are suggested for students to bring when moving
into the residence halls on the campus of Central Methodist University.
If you do not know your roommate it is a good idea to contact each other
before you arrive. Be sure to share what each other is planning to
bring, and what can be shared in your room.
- Bed linens (measurements) 6''X36''X80''
- Pillows
- Blanket
- Bedspread
- Mattress pad or "eggcrate" foam padding
- Towels
- Clothes hangers
- Wastebasket
- Desk light
- Alarm clock
- Fan
- Disposable/microwaveable dishes
- Laundry supplies (detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, iron,
starch, laundry basket/bag)
- Quarters for laundry (One load costs $1.50)
- Cleaning supplies (broom, dust mop, non-abrasive bathroom cleanser for
Holt, Howard-Payne and McMurry residents)
- Updated address book with phone numbers
- Stamps (also available in the mailroom)
- Telephone with extra long phone cord
- Three-prong extension cords
- Multiple power outlet strips/surge protectors
- First aid kit
- Posters with putty, 3M strips or other removable poster mounts (Wall
hangings are not to be put up with nails or tacks)
- Extra set of car keys
- Phone card
- Stereo
- Refrigerator (5 cubic feet or less)
- Computer equipped with Ethernet card and Cat-5 cable (Cat-5 network
patch cables available at our bookstore)
- Low-watt microwave
- Television and coaxial cables
- VCR/DVD player
- Air conditioner-5,000 BTU or less with current consumption 7.5 amps
(Howard-Payne North and Holt Hall only)
- USB thumb drive (available at our bookstore)
*We encourage these items to be covered on your insurance program or
your parents insurance program.
What to leave at home:
- Pets (Residents are permitted to have fish or small amphibians contained
in a 15 gallon aquarium or less. Mammals, reptiles, insects and birds
are not permitted.)
- Candles
- Open-coiled cooking appliances (toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates)
- Halogen lamps
