Special Collections

The staff of Smiley Library are proud to maintain special collections
for Central Methodist University and the Missouri Methodist Conference.
The university rare books collection and archive are located on the
fifth floor of Cupples Hall. Many of these items are now recorded
tin the library catalog. Other specialized collections include:
Jack B. Kubisch
Jack B. Kubisch, a CMC grad from 1942, was
presented with an honorary Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in
1974. He was also the keynote speaker for that commencement
ceremony.
Dr. Kubisch donated a portion of his personal papers to the
Smiley Memorial Library collection in 2000. Many of these
documents were originally classified by the federal government.
They have since been unclassified.
Ragout 1929
As a direct result of a Historical Records Grant, Smiley Memorial
Library was able to have all the Central Collegians (oldest student
newspaper west of the Mississippi) and all of the pre-1950 Ragouts
(student annual) microfilmed for future generations to use.
This project also allowed us to have the Ragouts that we owned which
were published prior to 1950, digitized and saved onto CD-Roms.
Therefore, here is the 75-year-old Ragout, from 1929. It is in PDF
format and has been divided into parts to speed up your download
time--however be advised, some of the files will still require
substantial time to download using a modem.
