scholarships and grants
CMU SCHOLARSHIPS - Central Methodist offers several levels of
academic scholarships. As an institution of higher learning, CMU
recognizes and rewards those who understand the significance of academic
success. The CMU academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of
a students academic record of GPA and ACT scores.
A+ Program Scholarship
Any student who has completed the A+ program during high school and
is admissible will be eligible for a ½ tuition scholarship. Our ½
tuition scholarships cannot be used in conjunction with any other
institutional scholarship. A transfer student must have an Associates
Degree to qualify.
United Methodist 50% Tuition Scholarship
To qualify for the
United Methodist Half Tuition Scholarship the student must be an active
United Methodist Church member in good standing with his or her local
church for at least one year, which must be verified by the pastor. The
applying UMC student must meet or exceed CMU’s basic academic admission
standards of a 2.5 GPA and a 20 ACT score and attend full time. Our ½
tuition scholarships cannot be used in conjunction with any other
institutional scholarship.

United Methodist Church
Membership Verification Form

Incoming Freshmen: Scholarships vary from
$5,000 to $12,000 and are based on GPA and ACT
scores.
Incoming Transfer Students: Scholarships vary from $5,000 to
$8,000 and are based on the number of transfer hours and the students
GPA.
International Students: Academic Scholarships vary from
$5,000 to $12,000 and are available based on
individual transcript and test scores. Participation scholarships
are available in the areas of sports, music, theatre, and cheerleading
and are evaluated for each student individually.
Participatory Scholarships - These scholarships are awarded to
students participating in designated CMU activities. The
scholarships vary in amount and require an audition, interview or tryout
with the appropriate activity director or coach. A student may combine
only one participatory scholarship and academic scholarship. These
scholarships may not be used in conjunction with any ½ tuition
scholarship.
NOTE: Institutional scholarships are not
available to College of Graduate and Extended
Studies students.
Institutional aid will not exceed tuition and
may be reduced if assistance is received by
third parties.
FEDERAL GRANTS
Pell Grant - Award amounts range from $400 to $4,310 annually.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - Funds
are limited, and only Pell grant recipients are eligible.
ACG - Academic Competitiveness Grant -
First year undergraduates who complete a
rigorous high-school curriculum are eligible to
receive up to $750. During the second
year, students can receive up to $1300.
These grants are need-based and recipients must
be Pell eligible. The second year grant
requires a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from the
first academic year.
National
SMART Grant - Third and fourth year
undergraduates who are Pell eligible and are
majoring in certain math, science, technology,
engineering or critical foreign languages can
receive up to $4,000 in funds. A 3.0 GPA
in coursework is required.
STATE GRANTS
Access Missouri Award - Missouri
residents attending full-time may be eligible if FAFSA is
processed prior to April 1 each year and the
student maintains a 2.5 GPA.
