Deer!
Four deer visit CMU.
Posted on Thursday, April 17, 2008.

As a few of my friends and I were swimming last week, we happened to look out of one of the recreation building's large windows and spotted three beautiful deer.  How odd!  Though deer are populous in Missouri, we hadn't seen or even heard of deer being seen on campus.  This was a treat!

We continued to watch them as they calmly observed their surroundings.  Before too long, another deer came into the picture.  We got excited.  We watched as the deer made their way up to the T Berry building and hoped that they were careful crossing the parking lot.  I don't know how many other people saw the deer, but I hope more than just the four of us saw them.  It was a cool experience!

Graduation
I am ready to leave the Eagle's Nest.
Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008.

"Graduation."  That word is so sweet that I wouldn't mind sinking my teeth into it right now, no hesitation.  It cannot seem to get here soon enough.  Don't get me wrong, I adore my friends and our time together, memories shared... but, I'm ready to move on.  I'm ready to experience the "life after graduation."  Yes, I will be hounded by student loan fees, rent, personal spending, etc... but, it will be so very worth it!

Because this is my senior year, I have caught myself relishing in every fun and unique moment so that I can tuck it away in my memory bank for safe-keeping.  That way, I'll always have the good times.  I know I'll miss CMU once I'm gone, but I also know I will always have the laughter, smiles, rumbles, and music that has kept me going these past few years.

A Terrifying Week
Being ill is far worse than having loads of homework to do!
Posted on Saturday, March 01, 2008.

For the past six days, I have been very ill and stuck in my room, unable to attend my classes and music lessons.  Let me tell you: it's terrifying!  There's no way to know when I'll be all better and will be able to go to class.  It is such a horrible feeling.  I would much rather have loads of homework than be so sick that I can't do any.  On the up side, I know I will be able to get back on track.  How do I know?  I know because my teachers are going to work with me to make it happen.  How amazing is that?!  It is going to be a grueling task, but I am up for the challenge.  I miss being involved, performing, doing what I love to do.

To all of my professors: thank you from the bottom of my and my parents' hearts!

American Music Recital
Theta Omicron chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota and Beta Mu chapter of Phi Mu Alpha host the American Music Recital!
Posted on Saturday, February 23, 2008.

So many interesting things are going on at CMU!  Greek Pledge Week has come, the play "Anne Frank" is being performed by the Fayette Community Theater, and Spring Break is quicky approaching, to name a few.

One of the big events I am most looking forward to is the annual American Music Recital hosted by the Theta Omicron chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota and the Beta Mu chapter of Phi Mu Alpha.  Sigma Alpha Iota is an international music fraternity for women currently in its 105th year and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a national men’s music fraternity celebrating 110 years.

The AMR is Thursday, April 10th, at 7:30 in the evening and will include solos and ensembles performing music composed or arranged by Americans.  It is a notable tribute to the immense span of wonderful American music.  I can guarantee that Beta Mu and Theta Omicron have been working hard on preparing musical selections.  We are all eager for the performance!

I hope you will join us to enjoy an evening of special music April 10th!

Pledge Week
Soon Greek organizations will welcome new pledges!
Posted on Tuesday, February 19, 2008.

This week is Dead Week.  That simply means that all Greek organizations are not to bother Alpha Pledges 2005potential pledges because... Friday is Bid Night!!  It's the night when those who wish to receive a bid from the Greek social organization of their choice.  If they get the bid, they run through Brannock Hall and are received by their choice organization on the other side.  I'm excited!  I am the Pledge Captain of Alpha Gamma Psi, so I get to work with our pledges hands-on every day beginning Sunday.  We hope to receive one or two pledges.  Only the President and Vice-President of each organization know who received a bid for that frat or sorority until they are posted on the door of Brannock.

Pledge activities officially begin Sunday night.  This should be a really fun week.  From 5 o'clock pm to midnight every day is the designated time for pledge activities.  This gives us plenty of time to have some fun!  The Alphas are so looking forward to getting to know our pledges better.  It's one of the best times of the academic year!!

If you can make it to the quad outside of Brannock Hall on Friday, please do!  The "Run Through" begins at 7:30 pm.  It's entertaining to watch what each organization does to celebrate the arrival of new pledges.  Good luck to all Greek organization actives and pledges!!
