Goodbye CMU!
Posted on Tuesday, May 06, 2008.

As I said last week, this will be a little long and extremely heartfelt as this will be my last blog. In the fall, I will be transferring to the University of Central Missouri. Thanks to all my faithful readers for making this blog program a success. I hope it continues in the fall with new bloggers! Please continue to read, you never know what will happen in a college student's life!

To the incoming freshmen, my advice is get involved! It was hard for me at first, but as many people have told me, I just made my own opportunities. The more involved you are, the more people you’ll know. The more people you know, the more support there is. Even if it’s as simple as attending every Wednesday Night Wave, get out there! Make yourself known. You never know the friendships that can develop from just saying hello. Keep your chin up. Yes, college is hard, but if you go into it with a sunny outlook, it won’t be as hard. My personal favorite thing to do is walk around with a smile. Even if it’s not real, maybe it can make someone else’s day a little brighter.

To Joy, the yearbook staff, and SGA, thanks for letting me take charge! I was a bit afraid as a freshman I would not be able to find any leadership opportunities in college, but you gave me a huge challenge. It's been an ongoing battle against time, but I know we have the upper hand!

To Don, Cathy, and the Office of Advancement, thanks for being the most amazing job a girl could ask for. You've taught me so much and the memories we made are unforgettable! I've grown so much from every single moment spent on the third floor of Brannock!

To the Career Development Center, thanks for showing me the depth of my talents. I never knew I could do actual graphics! Thanks for allowing me to be creative in a brand new outlet. You are part of the reason I have such an amazing job this summer.

To Mark and the theatre department, you have made this year amazing. If I had not been in such a loving atmosphere, I never would have found where I belong. You guys are my best friends in the world and I will never forget the crazy times we had. I cannot put into words everything that you mean to me. "DYMK!"

To Central Methodist University and every single student I have ever encountered, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know if I had not started out here, I would have never found my potential. I needed to start someplace where I could be known. I needed to figure out if theatre was really something I could not stand living without. You showed me that. I never felt lost in the crowd, and that’s something to be proud of. This school showed me all the love and compassion I could have ever asked for.

To quote my favorite musical Wicked, “Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better, but because I knew you, I have been changed for good.”

Thank you again... if you see me around, don't be afraid to say hi!

The last week!
Posted on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.

I've made it to the last week of classes! It's so weird to think about that. The beginning of the year seems like just yesterday.

House and Garden went very well! Thanks to everyone who came out to see the shows!
There's really not much to say. As some people have put it, I'm on autopilot.
Expect a longer, more heartfelt blog next week!!
Have a great week, and if you see me around campus, don't be afraid to say hi!!

The time has come...
Posted on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

The time has come... "House" and "Garden" opens on Thursday! I've anticipated this show for a long time, and as it approached, I was fearful of it. Now that it's here, we're ready! Everything is synched and all systems are go! I'm so excited. I hope you can come! It's a theatre extravaganza not to be missed!

I'd like to reflect on something personal right now. I'm not sure if I've mentioned, but my dad is a fire fighter. Two weeks ago a man from his department was injured during a house fire, and he passed away last Thursday. My family and I attended the funeral today, and I was reminded of how much my dad does every time that call comes in. I'd like to ask you all to remember the fire fighters. They do so much, sometimes for no/very little money. They give so much to the general public. I know many of them, and they are the sweetest, most caring people you could meet. So, if you see one of them out and about, smile, wave, or perhaps, say thank you.

Back on a school related note; come see "House" and "Garden"!!! Thursday and Friday at 7:30, Saturday at 3:00 and 6:00, and Sunday at 6:00. Each of them makes sense alone, but it's definitely best if you see both!!!

If you see me around campus, don't be afraid to say hi!

Leadership and Service Day
Posted on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.

For those who do not know, today was Leadership and Service Day here at CMU. I took part in the leadership conference presented by Kevin Eikenberry. It was great! I really enjoyed the information he presented about change. He refered to it in terms of knowing when a group is prepared for change, but I took it on a personal level.

I really enjoyed spending time with other students during lunch and our student sessions. We tried to come up with leadership ideas for the campus. I found it very interesting seeing how many of them want to interact with other campus groups. Many people mentioned combining forces to add to the diversity of the campus.

We're getting to the end of the semester! House and Garden is next week. Again, I really hope you can come. I assure you, you will NOT regret it, especially if you attend both shows!

Well, it's been a long day, and I still have some homework to finish up!
If you see me around campus, don't be afraid to say hi!

House, Garden, and SPRING!
Posted on Wednesday, April 09, 2008.

I promised I would give you an overview of House and Garden this week but, to my own surprise, I got the press release done at work and it does a pretty good job of explaining, so check it out, then read on!

I really hope you can make it. They're really amazing. Everyone has worked very very very hard on the show... shows! It is a veyr unique theatre experience. I would especially suggest coming on Saturday, so you can not only see both shows, but enjoy an amazing English dinner with the cast!

The weather is getting nice, and I love it! Even with the occasional "April shower" it's my idea of perfect weather! I love sitting in my room, slaving over homework, with my window open! :-)
This year is winding down very quickly. I think we're down to 3 weeks of classes and finals! It's crazy to think that my freshman year is coming to an end. Even crazier is thinking that in the fall some of my younger friends will be college students, and I'll be an old pro at this college thing!

I realized when I was home this weekend, that I'm going to be going back home soon, which means I have to have some place to move everything back into! I think that is going to be a really hard adjustment, even if I will only be home a few weeks before I move again for my job in Macon!

Well, as always, I'm writing right before bed, so I should be off. Have a great week and if you see me around campus don't be afraid to say hi!
