Dan Schmidlin enters his second season as the head coach for the
Central Methodist University soccer programs, after spending the 2007
season as the assistant soccer coach.
In his first season at the helm of the CMU programs, Schmidlin
led the Eagle men to a 7-9-2 record, while the women posted a
6-12 record. The 2008 finish for the CMU men was the best season
in five years for the program. Also in 2008, Central Methodist
had three soccer players selected to the All-HAAC Conference
teams - one on the men's team and two on the women's.
Schmidlin is also the head coach of the '96 Missouri girls ODP State Team. He holds his NSCAA Advanced National
coaching license.
He has accumulated 13 years of coaching experience, and is now on the
United States Soccer Federation (USSF) coaching staff for teaching the
"D" License. Schmidlin's coaching experience includes three
years as the assistant coach at his alma mater, Springboro High School
(Springboro, Ohio). Schmidlin has also coached several club teams in
Dayton, Ohio. Through his club coaching, Schmidlin helped develop two
collegiate All-Americans and several other players who continued their
careers at NCAA Div. I, II, III, and NAIA levels.
Schmidlin graduated from Muskingum College in 2004 with a degree in
physical education and a minor in business. He was a four-year letter
winner as a defender and mid-fielder for the Muskies. After graduating,
Schmidlin played for Dayton's amateur soccer team.
In his free time, Schmidlin enjoys golfing, fishing, boating and playing
sports. Schmidlin and his wife Ashley
reside in Fayette, Mo.
