Head
Coach Andrea Brooks
Andrea (Andi) Brooks returns to
mid-Missouri after seven years of
state-jumping during her playing days and early coaching career. Brooks
graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., in 1999, before
accepting a scholarship to play basketball at the University of
Nebraska-Omaha. After two years, she transferred to Western State
College in Colorado to finish her playing days. There she graduated with
a bachelor’s in kinesiology, while also minoring in art and English.
To begin her graduate career, Brooks reunited with Paula Buscher at
Bradley University, whom Brooks had played for at the University of
Nebraska-Omaha. Brooks’ first year at Bradley was served as an
administrative assistant before being promoted to assistant coach in
September of 2004. The following spring she received her master’s degree
in English before accepting a position at Quincy University as Assistant
Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. She served one year at Quincy before the
position at Central Methodist became available.
Basketball success runs in the family as her father, Jim Sutherland, is
a Hall of Fame Coach in the state of Missouri and a recent retiree of
the head coaching position at Hickman High School. Her brother Jason
Sutherland was an All-Big 8 performer and two-time leading scorer under
Norm Stewart at Missouri from 1993-97.
The former Andi Sutherland married Mike Brooks, a native of Omaha, Neb.,
in 2004. The two welcomed a daughter, Britain, to their family in May
2008.
