2008 Season Outlook

The Eagles enter the 2008 season with high hopes and young talent. They are looking to improve after a 5-12-1 campaign in 2007, where they were winless in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

This year's recruiting class will be a great addition to the last season's youthful squad. “We were very young last season but our returners have great experience and leadership," first-year Head Coach Dan Schmidlin said. "This year we are going to look to mesh the two together and build on our young talent."

The team will be led by third team All-HAAC Conference goalkeeper, sophomore Brent Tegerdine (Columbia, Mo.). In his freshman season, Tegerdine started every match in which he played, recording 90 saves and four shutout victories.

"We are going to expect a lot of big things from him (Tegerdine)," Schmidlin said. "Last year he kept us in a lot of games with big saves. We will need him to control the defenders."

Junior midfielder Brandon Ousley (Jefferson City, Mo.) will also provide quality leadership for the Eagles. In 2007, he recorded one goal and one assist. He and Tegerdine will take on extra leadership this season as the team captains.

Also returning for the Eagles is senior forward Zoe Riviere (Miami, Fla.), who led the team with four goals and two assists a year ago. Joining him are sophomore midfielders Scott Alvino (St. Louis, Mo.) and Rob Humphrey (St. Louis, Mo.), along with sophomore defender Seth Rogers (Lake Winnebago, Mo.). Among those joining the squad in 2008 are Brazil natives Eduardo Weschenfelder, Ralph Alves and Ronan Doyle, Kyle Redd (Keller, Texas), Providence Tucker (St. Charles, Mo.) and Tim Toolen (O'Fallon, Mo.).
