The Ashby Collection

There are some 45 artists represented in the Ashby collection. Some of the more significant artists are: Thomas Hart Benton, Birger Sandzen, Charles Banks Wilson, Frederic Remington, Aaron Bohrod, Robert MacDonald Graham, Jr., Frederick Shane, Roger Medearis, Jackson Lee Nesbitt, and Randall Davey. Eight of the artists are still living. There are three bronzes in the collection--two by Charles Banks Wilson and a facsimile, "Mountain Man" by Frederic Remington.

Dr. and Mrs. Ashby have given the gallery, in addition to the paintings, a voluminous collection of very fine art books, auction house catalogues and art magazines to enhance the collection itself. These are available for visitors to peruse through and read in the reading room of the Gallery.
