Alumni Benefits
Central is proud of our alumni; who they are and what they've done
after graduation! CMU wants to provide the best benefits, opportunities
and programs to its alumni. These are some of the benefits of being a
CMU alumna/alumnus:
Central Methodist University recognizes anyone who has completed 30 or
more credit hours as alumnus/a.
Alumnus: one graduate of an institution, male or neutral
Alumna: one female graduate Alumni: a group of graduates, either male or neutral
Alumnae: a group of female graduates |
Lifetime membership in the Central Methodist University Alumni
Association. The Alumni Association has members in 20 countries and all
50 states and is active in many of those areas.
Subscription to the Talon, the bi-annual alumni magazine. The
Class Notes section of the Talon is reserved primarily for alumni to
share their lives with other alumni. Submissions for the Talon are taken
by phone, mail, and email in the CMU Advancement Office and also through
the "Update Your Profile" link on the alumni website.
Access to the James C. Denneny Jr., Career Development Center. The
James C. Denneny Jr., Career Development Center is open to all alumni and offers career
counseling, credential/placement files, career minded seminars/events,
and mentoring opportunities. The James C. Denneny Jr., Career Center may be contacted by
calling (660) 248-6255 or by emailing the Director of Career Services,
Linda Lorenz.
Invitations to special regional and on-campus events such as regional
gatherings, tailgates, receptions, Homecomings and Alumni Reunions.
A special gift from the Alumni Association upon graduation.
Access to the Smiley Library, The Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art,
and the Stephens Museum, all located on CMU’s
Fayette campus. Use of the Linn Memorial United Methodist Church and Parish House at a
discounted rate.
Legacy grant: This grant is available for children or grandchildren of
CMU alumni. For more information contact the
Office of Financial
Assistance at (660) 248-6245.
License plate program: A $50 annual donation
to CMU will allow alumni to have personalized CMU license plates
to show their loyalty to their alma mater. Ask about getting a license
plate today!
Travel opportunities: There are many opportunities to travel with alumni
groups at varying prices. Recent trips have been cruises in Canada,
Alaska, and the Caribbean.
Volunteering: Many volunteer opportunities are available for CMU alumni.
Admissions, the Career Development Center, the Advancement Office, and many other
departments on campus are always looking for enthusiastic alumni
participation.
Philanthropy: Giving back is an intricate part of keeping the traditions
of Central alive. There are many opportunities for alumni to make a
difference through a donation to the Central
Excellence Fund or to the department of their choice. Every
contribution counts and aids in the future of CMU.
