About the Little Theatre
All CMU Theatre Arts Department productions are held in The Little
Theatre, a 219 seat
proscenium house equipped with classroom, makeup and dressing room
facilities, computerized lighting equipment, and scene shop facilities.
The CMU Little Theatre was built in 1969 and was formally dedicated on
September 6, 1969. Dr. and Mrs. John A. Epple made this addition to
campus possible by a generous gift. Since then the Little Theatre has
been a vital part of campus life and culture.
The Department produces four main stage productions per year, including
student directed one-act plays every two years. In addition to our
regular theatre season, The Little Theatre, the Cultural Affairs
Committee, and the Student Government Association present as many as
four cultural events annually, which provides additional participation
opportunities.
Furthermore, the department contracts with professional actors from New
York or Los Angeles as part of our guest-artist program.
