Social Sciences
Welcome to the CMU Social Sciences Division. Just like the wide ranging
fields represented in the division we have an equally large number of
learning opportunities for you to investigate. We offer you the chance
to study Communications, Criminal Justice, History, Political Science,
Psychology, Sociology and an education career. In short all aspects of
mankind from the physical person to human social organization.
The quality of our educational offerings reflects the equally high
quality of our faculty. We have on staff five Ph.D.s or equivalents each
of whom have a variety of research projects underway, producing several
publications, and belong to a number of professional associations. Each
of these professionals is prepared to guide you through the liberal arts
adventure with small classes, discussion, readings, and lots of writing.
Outside the classroom we are committed to bettering our communities
through all sorts of civic activities. All this momentum allows our
division to offer students many opportunities to collaborate on career
enhancing projects.
Each year a large percentage of our graduates opt to attend graduate
school or professional schools. The Social Sciences faculty are more
than your academic advisor, they are prepared to help you find the best
graduate schools to fit your goals.
