Health Professions

The Division of Health Professions at Central Methodist University offers three programs that prepare the student for a professional role related to health care.

The Athletic Training Program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) offers a four-year degree that prepares the student to for the Board of Certification Examination (BOC) and to prepare students for an entry-level career in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The program will provide, through a liberal arts based education, the didactic and clinical experiences required and set forth by CAATE.

The Generic BSN program is a four-year degree program located on-campus in Fayette, Missouri. This program provides the student with the educational preparation to make them eligible to take the NCLEXRN exam – the national State Boards for nursing practice. The program is approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and accredited by The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredits this program.

The BSN completion programs, offered through the College of Graduate and Extended Studies, provide sites throughout the state where registered nurses with a Diploma degree or an Associates of Science degree in nursing can complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This degree attainment prepares the student to participate in graduate-level education, helps to meet personal educational goals, and can make nurses eligible for some entry-level administrative positions within the field of nursing. Completion time, based on the initial level of RN educational preparation, is typically two years.

The Master of Science in Nursing program prepares Clinical Nurse Leaders. The program initially began in partnership with hospitals where CMU has RN to BSN programs: Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Fitzgibbon Memorial Hospital in Marshall, Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, and St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis. The program begins once a year in the fall. Each class moves through the curriculum as a cohort.
