Early Childhood

The Early Childhood Education program at Central Methodist University is designed in such a way that students who graduate with a degree in Early Childhood Education will be able to: CMU student and child

  • Construct knowledge about children's learning while assisting children in building knowledge of the world through developmentally appropriate experiences.

  • Understand and articulate the significance of play in the construction of knowledge and plan for facilitation of play in the early childhood environment.

  • Recognize the importance of families and value family diversity while facilitating collaborative partnerships between home and school.

  • Understand the role the environment plays in teaching while establishing and maintaining physically and psychologically safe and healthy learning environments for young children.
