About This Program

The Sociology major educates students through analytical thinking, research, experiments, surveys, and other existing data pertaining to social phenomena. You will solve complex problems, study the different ways you can make social changes, communicate your ideas to others, and develop solutions. Experience in these areas is highly desired by employers, and the skills you will develop will prepare you for professional success.

As a CMU Sociology major, you will have opportunities to:

  • build in-demand skills while taking classes such as Social Deviance, Race and Ethnicity in the United States, Gender and Sexuality, Social Psychology, Criminology, and Family Relations and Values
