Here Comes CMU Band Day
46 schools will arrive October 7

Let the flags wave and the drums roll. Band Day is back.
Put on by the Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Band Day welcomes bands, townspeople, and visitors for a full day of thrilling marches, drum corps, parades, and field competitions. Mark the day—Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 8:55 a.m. on the Courthouse Square.
This year a total of 46 regional bands from all size schools will arrive to participate in a variety of overlapping events. The CMU Marching Eagles Band will lead the parade of 41 marching bands down Church Street and around the Square, beginning at 8:55 a.m. and running almost until noon.
Starting at 11:30 a.m., 27 bands will begin performing in the field competition. Small bands, Class 1, perform first; then the bands increase from there. Class 2 will take the field around 12:15 p.m., Class 3 around 3 p.m.; Class 4 at around 5:30; and Class 5 at 7 p.m.
Indoor Drum Line competition will begin at 9:10 a.m. and ends at 1:40 p.m., and will include 24 schools. It will take place in Puckett Field House.
Indoor Color Guard competition will start at 10 a.m. and run until 3:40 p.m. with 26 schools in attendance. This competition will be held in the Philips-Robb Recreation Center.
Awards will be given at several times during the day. Class 1 and 2 awards will be announced at 2:45 p.m. on Davis Field between class performances, and Class 3 honors will be announced at 5:15 p.m. Awards for Classes 4 and 5, along with the Drum Major and Sweepstakes Awards will be given at 7:30 p.m., following all performances plus a field show by the CMU Marching Eagles Band.
All events except the Field Competition will be free. The Field Competition at Davis Football Field is $3 for adults. All students get in free, as do CMU personnel.
